Welcome to the South Strand and Lowcountry Dining Yes, we are different than the playground of Myrtle Beach and the high society of Charleston. This unique strand follows Route 17 South from the beaches of Surfside and Garden City, to Murrells Inlet the Seafood Capital of South Carolina, the “Arrogantly Shabby" Pawleys Island and the Historical Seaport of Georgetown. Our restaurants rate among the best in the Southeast. If you are a resident, here on vacation or maybe just passing through, this guide will help you navigate the many restaurants located in our area. This is not a profiling guide. There are no advertisements written to look like a critique. This simple guide provides information about the ambiance and type of food the restaurants offer, any entertainment, the locations, phone numbers and a map. You will not find advertisements for dental offices, hair salons or real estate agencies. This is a restaurant and menu guide only. Our goal is to offer a broad cross section of restaurants from simple cafes to fine upscale dining establishments. Obviously, seafood is the main culinary delight of the area but there are some really great choices for meats, pasta or even good southern barbeque. Enjoy your stay and we encourage you to dine around and try as many of our restaurants as possible. So when you do please tell your host, hostess or server that you found them in Lowcountry Dining.
