The condo is located in

Wedgefield Plantation, a golf

course community about 5 miles

from downtown Georgetown and 

about 20 minutes from the beach

at Pawleys Island.  Located at the

southern tip of the Grand Strand,

Wedgefield Plantation was once a

flourishing rice plantation on the

Black River in historic

Georgetown. The fairways wind

through magnolias, dogwoods,

century-old moss draped oaks,

camellias, azaleas and a wide

variety of wild flowers.  The

Association (WPA) maintains the

roads, and infrastructure.  There is

also a boat landing and dock on

the Black River for the private use

of all residents.  The Village

Association maintains a pool

which is open from Memorial Day

through September. 

The condos were built in the mid 1970s and are governed by a separate set of by laws and a Co-Owners

asociation and a board of directors.  There are 13 units in this association which is one of 6 associations in

Wegefield Village. 

I bought the condo 3 years ago and moved here from NY.  It is an end unit with great privacy.  It has three

bedrooms, 2.5 baths, a deck overlooking the golf course and a Carolina room with a wet bar, counter and

cabinets.  About 1800SF of living area.  I am only about 5 miles from downtown Georgetown but I have

started a publishing business here and I am traveling back and forth to downtown 2 -3 times a day.  I work

out of my home office doing publishing, and websites.  I paid $115K for it in 2006.  Since then I have put

on a new roof for the deck, a new AC/Heat Pump for the upstairs, a new roof for the Carolina room and

new flooring in the living room area.  Both the Carolina Room and the Deck have been added by previous

owners and are therefore not covered by the condo owners association.  The owners association has

recently replaced the roof of all the units and is just completing the repainting/replacement of siding and

trim of all the units.  This was paid for by  two extra assessments of totally $2500 to each of the units.
